Marc Chandonnet enters his 15th season as head coach of Seattle University's men's and women's golf programs in 2026-27.
Since arriving in 2012, Chandonnet has led the men's program to two Western Athletic Conference championships (2017, 2025) and the women's program to its first conference championship (2024). Under his leadership, Seattle U has produced four NCAA Championship appearances, including team appearances by the men's program and individual berths by WAC Medalists Nathan Cogswell (2022) and Kevin Li (2024).
A three-time WAC Coach of the Year, Chandonnet has coached multiple conference award winners while his student-athletes have earned more than 100 Academic All-Conference honors and dozens of WGCA and GCAA All-American Scholar recognitions. Throughout his tenure, both the men's and women's programs have consistently lowered scoring averages, captured tournament championships and rewritten the Seattle U record book.
Prior to Seattle U, Chandonnet served as head coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State, leading the Bulldogs' men's team to the 2012 Great American Conference championship. Before that, he spent six seasons at Grand Canyon University as women's head coach, associate men's head coach and director of golf, helping guide the Lopes to back-to-back Pacific West Conference championships.
A former standout golfer at Grand Canyon, Chandonnet has qualified for four U.S. Amateur Championships and the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship. He earned both his bachelor's degree in graphic design and master's degree in leadership from Grand Canyon University. Chandonnet and his wife reside in Maple Valley with their three children.
Season-by-Season
2025-26 - Kevin Li captured his third career individual tournament title at The Watney, as well as posting the third-lowest round in Redhawk history (-7 under, 65) at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational. Li and Jacob Kang earned All-WCC Honorable Mention recognition, while the women's team claimed the Bobcat Desert Classic team title.
2024-25 - The men's team captured its second WAC Championship under Chandonnet, earning the program's second NCAA team appearance. Chandonnet was named WAC Coach of the Year, while Kevin Li earned First Team All-WAC honors, along with being named WAC Golfer of the week twice across the season. The women won the Portland State Invitational, and Rivekka Jumagulova claimed the individual title. At the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, Jumagulova also was the individual champion, with a program-record finish of -13 under, while also shooting a program-best round of -5 under, 67. Jumagulova was later named All-WAC First Team.
2023-24 - The 2023-24 season became one of the most successful in school history. The women's team won its first-ever WAC Championship and claimed it’s first-ever NCAA tournament berth, while Kevin Li claimed the men's individual WAC Medalist title to qualify for the NCAA Championships. Rivekka Jumagulova earned WAC Golfer of the Year and First Team All-WAC honors after setting a new program record for scoring average of 72.67. The entire women’s team also posted a program-record scoring average of 293.63.
2021-22 - Nathan Cogswell won the WAC individual championship to qualify for the NCAA Championships, marking the second NCAA appearance in program history for the men's program. The team as a whole collected seven WAC weekly awards across three student-athletes. The women's team set 10 program records and reached a program-best number 110 national ranking, while Rivekka Jumagulova was named WAC Freshman of the Year.
2020-21 - The women's program established eight school records, and Samantha Bruce won the individual title at the Bobcat Desert Classic and was named All-WAC Second Team. On the men’s side, Nathan Cogswell earned All-WAC First Team honors.
2019-20 – The women’s team compiled seven new school records, and the men’s team racked up four. Nathan Cogswell earned WAC Men's Golfer of the Month honors in September and set individual program records six times.
2018-19 - The men's team finished third at the WAC Championship while the women's squad tied for first during stroke play at the conference championship. Nathan Cogswell won WAC Golfer of the Month in October and took the title at the WSGA Men’s Championship.
2017-18 - The men's team produced another strong conference finish behind Joe Harvie, who won a WAC golfer of the week award and was named All-WAC Second Team. while the women's team placed third at the WAC Championship with three players finishing in the top six individually, and Kimberlee Tottori was named All-WAC Second Team.
2016-17 - A landmark season for Seattle U golf, the men's team captured the program's first WAC Championship and first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1965. Chandonnet was named WAC Coach of the Year, while Zack Overstreet earned WAC Freshman of the Year honors. The women’s team finished third in their WAC Championships, and earned a team win at the Red Rocks Invitational.
2015-16 - In the 2015-16 season, Chandonnet led both the men's and women's golf teams to second-place finishes at the WAC Championships. This was the men's highest WAC finish to date, and two men's golfers were named to the All-WAC Team. The women also claimed first place at the Bobcat Spring Invitational.
2013-14 - The men's team won its first stroke-play tournament since the program's reinstatement, capturing the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational. The women's team added a runner-up finish at the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational.
2012-13 - During his first coaching season, the Redhawk men had their best finish during Cypress Ridge Match Play (second place). At the WAC championship, the men's team finished ninth. The Redhawk women's golf finished third at the Rose City Collegiate, and finished sixth place at the WAC Championships.
