STOCKTON, Calif. - In only his third-ever collegiate competition, Cade McVicker already has his first top-10 finish under his belt. His efforts led the way for the Seattle University men's golf team's first team finish at par or better for the season, with the Redhawks coming in seventh of 18 teams.

McVicker started the tournament blazing hot, with a career-best round of -4 under, 68. He followed that up with a solid second round of -2 under, 70 with five birdies. Despite a rougher round three of +1 over, 73 he still managed to card four birdies, and finished just outside of the top five finishers, tying for sixth place overall with -5 under, 211.

"Shoutout to freshman Cade McVicker for earning his first collegiate top-10 finish," said head coach Marc Chandonnet, "Cade continues to impress with his talent, composure and competitive spirit. It’s exciting to see him gaining confidence and making an impact so early in his college career."

Sophomore Jacob Kang remained one of Seattle U's most consistent finishers, his 26th place finish marking his fourth consecutive tournament finishing within the top 30. Kang's best round was on the third and final day, where he shot -1 under, 71, and secured a final score of +2 over, 218.

Elliot Ro was consistent across the tournament, shooting even par, 72 in both the first and the third rounds. He finished in 32nd place with +3 over, 219.

Burly Hildreth continued to improve his stroke average this season, with his best round of the tournament coming in the first round with even par, 72. He finished with +5 over, 221, good for 52nd place.

Despite rockier second and third rounds, Kevin Li was an instrumental team scorer in the first round, shooting a season-best -3 under, 69 with seven birdies. He finished the tournament in 68th place with +6 over, 222.

"I am really proud of the way our guys competed this week," said Chandonnet. "We showed a lot of grit, played some great golf, and continued to take steps forward as a team. It’s exciting to see the hard work paying off, but we also know there’s plenty of room to grow.

"I love the direction we’re heading and the way this group is competing for each other. Proud to be a Redhawk!”

Seattle University will next take action at their final competition of the fall season, the Saint Mary's Invitational. The tournament, hosted by Saint Mary's College, will take place in Monterey, Calif. from October 20-22.
