BANDON, Ore. - The Seattle University men's golf team made another strong showing this week, finishing third out of 15 teams at this year's Bandon Dunes Championship. The team combined for -4, 848, finishing only behind Oregon State and Oregon.
Walker Lamb and Will Koch were standout contributors, finishing tied for fifth place with -5 under, 208. This is a season-best finish for both golfers.
Lamb started off strong in the first round, tying his career-best round of -5 under, 66 with eight birdies. He then shot even par across the next two rounds.
Koch had a more even approach, shooting -2 under, 69 before carding a season-low round of -3 under, 68 with four birdies and an eagle in the second round.
Freshman Jacob Kang continues his three-tournament streak of finishing within the top 25, tying his career-low round of -2 under, 69 in the second round. Kang placed 23rd with a score of +1 over, 214.
Rounding out the team were Ben Ragland, who shot +9 over, 222 and tied for 57th place, and Kevin Li, who finished in 71st with +12 over, 225.
Competing as individuals, Conrad Chisman tied teammate Ragland for 57th with +9 over, 222, Burly Hildreth carded +11 over, 224 and placed 68th, and Jakob Balkovec finished in 94th with +30 over, 243.
"I'm so proud of the guys," head coach Marc Chandonnet commented. "They never give up and always create opportunities for a special finish. Our best golf is one hundred percent ahead of us, but we are trending in a very positive direction."
Next up, the Redhawks prepare to host the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational presented by L.A.B. Golf. The competition will take place at the historic Chambers Bay Golf Course from March 30-31.
