For the second straight week, the men's javelin throw and women's long jump school records fell as the Seattle University track and field team began a busy weekend by competing at the Pelluer Invitational Friday, hosted by Eastern Washington University at Woodward Field.

Dylan Burnett (Lynnwood, Wash.) rewrote his own javelin throw record previously set at last week's Willamette Invitational, tossing the javelin 55.22 meters (181' 2") to finish in fourth place in the event. Navotni Minter (Edmond, Okla.) added two inches to her long jump school record with a top leap of 5.14 meters (16' 10.5"), good enough for a third place finish.

Brittany Philio (Renton, Wash.) was victorious in the women's high jump after clearing 1.55 meters (5' 1"). She also finished sixth in the javelin throw with a best effort of 24.78 meters (81' 3"), while Clare Monahan (Centennial, Colo.) finished in fifth place with a top toss of 25.96 meters (85' 2"). In the discus throw, Lindsay Currier (Beaverton, Ore.) finished in eighth place with a top effort of 37.10 meters (121' 9").

Besides Minter's record-setting jump, Becca Urbany (Damascus, Ore.) also posted a personal best with a top leap of 4.85 meters (15' 11"). Kamala Squires (Ventura, Calif.) was next for Seattle University with a top jump of 4.30 meters (14' 1.25"), while Amanda Luna (Beavercreek, Ore.) posted a best effort of 4.05 meters (13' 3.5"). Minter also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing the race in 16.93 seconds.

Among the top running performances, Tom Mezzera (San Francisco, Calif.) finished in second place in the men's 200 meter dash with a time of 22.27 seconds, while Elena Collins (Eugene, Ore.) posted a second place finish in the women's 400 meter dash in 60.84 seconds, followed by Rachel Purcell (Mission Viejo, Calif.) in fifth place in 61.52 seconds and Nicole Waters (Phoenix, Ariz.) in sixth place in 62.37 seconds.

The women's 800 meter run consisted of four SeattleU runners, led by Sarah Bolce (Sacramento, Calif.) with a time of 2:24.11 and Jennifer Stolle (Seattle, Wash.) in 2:27.83. Clare Obradovich (Tigard, Ore.) finished the race in 2:32.70, just ahead of Allison Prather (Carpinteria, Calif.) with a time of 2:32.92. Greta Stickney (Poulsbo, Wash.) finished fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:20.94.

Erin Moon (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished seventh in the 100 meter dash in 13.91 seconds and sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.62 seconds. Elizabeth Wolf (Albuquerque, N.M.) finished sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.35 seconds, and Meeghan Bergmann (Portland, Ore.) placed fourth in the 200 meter dash in 27.65 seconds.

Zach Stanfield (Adna, Wash.) finished third in the men's 400 meter dash in 49.41 seconds, with Jabari Fraser (Bethesda, Md.) earning an eighth place finish in 54.52 seconds. Nicholas Alvarado (San Francisco, Calif.) led seven SeattleU runners in the 1500 meter run, finishing third with a time of 4:14.29, with Dan Auld (Eugene, Ore.) finishing in fourth place in 4:16.44 and Graham Miller (Spokane, Wash.) earning a fifth place finish in 4:18.13. Matthew McClement (Bellingham, Wash.) was next with a time of 4:21.68, followed by Michael Van Nuland (Newcastle, Wash.) in 4:23.39, Keenan Clinch (Sammamish, Wash.) in 4:24.24, and Rustin Winger (Tracyton, Wash.) in 4:33.21.

Kelton Sears (Maple Valley, Wash.) posted a time of 1:58.40 to finish in eighth place in the 800 meter run, followed by Nick Cannata-Bowman (San Francisco, Calif.) in ninth place in 1:59.21. Robert Poshusta (Bremerton, Wash.) finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 19.07 seconds and seventh in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:05.64, with Michael Cardinal (Lafayette, Colo.) behind him in eighth place with a time of 1:07.32.

At the Western Washington University Multi-Events Meet at Civic Stadium in Bellingham, Wash., Kaytie Bateman (Chehalis, Wash.) set a school record in the women's heptathlon with 3,202 points, good enough for eighth place in the two-day event.

Seattle University will compete in the 2010 Northwest Scoring Clash Saturday, April 10, at Spokane Falls Community College. The Redhawks will participate as part of the Washington team that faces a collection of schools from Oregon, Montana, and Idaho. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and run all day long.
