Seattle University posted a 1-2-3 finish in the men's 200 individual medley, led by senior Bryson Chiu (Carmel, Ind.), who won the final with a time of 1:50.55. James Gilmore (Eugene, Ore.) improved his preliminary time by over two seconds to finish in second place in the evening final with a time of 1:51.79, just 9/100ths of a second ahead of teammate Joe Wertz (Richland, Wash.), who took third in 1:51.88.
Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) cut a half-second off his school record time in the 50 freestyle, winning the conference title in that event with a time of 20.03 seconds. Anderson then led off the 200 freestyle relay that won the PCSC title, joining with Jeff Tibbals (Moscow, Idaho), Chris Fulton (Snohomish, Wash.), and Murray Longbotham (Mercer Island, Wash.) to post a school-record time of 1:20.88.
For the women, Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.) set the school record during the preliminaries of the women's 500 freestyle with a time of 5:06.47. In the evening finals, she was the top finisher for SeattleU, touching the wall in seventh place with a time of 5:09.23.
Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) broke her own school record in the 200 individual medley by two-and-a-half seconds, finishing in third place with a time of 2:05.39. Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) finished in sixth place in the same event with a time of 2:08.15, with Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.) finishing in 20th place in 2:12.27, followed by Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.) in 23rd place in 2:12.69 and Shelby Remillard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) in 24th place in 2:14.62.
Senior Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) became the first SeattleU female swimmer to swim the 50 freestyle in under 24 seconds, posting times of 23.84 seconds in the preliminaries and 23.85 seconds in the finals for a sixth place finish. Also in the 50 freestyle, Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.) finished in 14th place in 24.44 seconds, Kevlyn Richards (Gig Harbor, Wash.) won the "C" final for a 17th place finish overall in 24.72 seconds, Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) earned a 22nd place finish with a time of 24.96 seconds, and Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) finished in 29th place in 25.32 seconds.
The fourth school record for the women came in the 200 freestyle relay, as Hanohano, Morehouse, Henan, and Basler combined to finish in third place with a time of 1:36.58. As a team, the SeattleU women moved up from seventh place to fourth place, totaling 293 points after two days of the championship meet.
The SeattleU men also showed off their depth in helping the team move up from fifth to second place in the overall standings with 470 points. Longbotham was the top Redhawk finisher in the 500 freestyle, finishing in fifth place with a time of 4:34.83, and James White (El Cajon, Calif.) finished in 11th place after posting a time of 4:43.13.
Andrew Miron (Billings, Mont.) finished in 12th place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:58.23, followed by Eric Pedack (Snohomish, Wash.) in 14th place in 1:59.06, Keith Andrews (Hillsboro, Ore.) in 15th place in 1:59.55, and Nick Hryciuk (Snohomish, Wash.) in 17th place overall, second place in the "C" finals, in 1:59.37.
Fulton took sixth place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.10 seconds, just 2/100ths of a second ahead of Tibbals in seventh place (21.22). Kalani Kaula (Albuquerque, N.M.) touched the wall in 11th place in 21.47 seconds, Tyler Carriker (Everett, Wash.) finished in 13th place in 21.54 seconds, and Owen Bley-Male (Portland, Ore.) finished in 29th place with a time of 22.23 seconds.
The PCSC Championships continue Friday with the 400 individual medley, the 100 butterfly, the 200 freestyle, the 100 breaststroke, the 100 backstroke, and the 400 medley relay.
