SUNNVYALE, CALIF. – Seattle U cross country will race in their penultimate meet of the 2019 season tomorrow at Baylands Park, competing against hundreds of other collegiate runners in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational. The men’s 8k invitational race will begin at 8:45 a.m. PT, while the women’s 6k invitational will start at 9:30 a.m. Following that, the men’s 8k open race kicks off at 10:15 a.m., and the women’s 6k open race at 11:00 a.m. will close out the day’s events.

The men’s 8k invitational contains 184 total runners from American River, Cal State Monterey Bay, California, Central Arizona, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Houston, Lamar, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Montana, Nevada, Pepperdine, Portland State, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle U, Saint Mary's, UC Santa Barbara and Utah Valley. California, Houston, Lamar, Santa Clara, UC Santa Barbara and Utah Valley are all ranked in the Top 15 of their respective regions by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCA).

In the men’s last outing, Ali was the top finisher for Seattle U, coming in at 11th place with an 8k time of 25:32.70.

The women’s 6k invitational has a total of 223 entries, with representatives from CSU Monterey Bay, California, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Houston, Lamar, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Montana, Moorpark, Nevada, Pacific, Pepperdine, Pomona-Pitzer, Portland State, Rice, Sacramento State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle U, Saint Mary's, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, Utah Valley and Wyoming. California, Houston, Montana, Nevada, Rice, San Jose State, UC Davis, Utah Valley and Wyoming are all ranked in their regions by the USTFCCCA.

Stein took first overall in the field at the John Payne/Curtis Invitational, posting a 5k time of 17:23.70.

The Redhawks will also enter senior Thea Foulk and junior Elle Stein in the women’s 6k open race.
