Seattle U men’s tennis (1-1) defeated Lewis-Clark State, 4-3, earning their first win of the season, in a match that came down to the wire.
“We won 4-3 in an unbelievably close match,” said head coach Mark Frisby. “It came down to the last singles match and Jason Bediones. Kevin Lynch also had a big win. It was just incredible.”
Seattle U earned the doubles point as Zach Kosanke/Will Topp defeated Hsiang-Yu Su/Tandin Wangchuk, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles and Riley Newman/Connor Leahy defeated Sonam Phuntsok/Sam Elsethagen, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles.
Kevin Lynch and Kosanke earned singles wins earlier in the match and the win came down to Jason Bediones’ win over Andres Bustani, 6-3, 2-6, 10-5, at No. 6 singles.
Seattle U continues competition on the weekend vs. Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 25 before closing out the weekend at Gonzaga on Sunday, Jan. 26.
