The Seattle University women’s swim team rounded out its weekend at Boise State with a 134-65 loss to the Broncos, but achieved a couple of personal best times.
"Boise State is such a power house, so I was very pleased with how we held their ground," said interim head coach Kat Cuevas. "We raced well where our opportunities were."
Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) led the way with a first-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a personal best time of 5:07.13, and a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.82. Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) earned her second winning finish of the weekend in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:20.97.
Nicole Doi (Pleasanton, Calif.) also set a personal best with a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 55:02. She was followed by Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) in third-place with a time of 55.61. Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.) also had a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:11.68. Leighter was followed by teammate Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), who came in third in 2:17.33.
In other individual races, Karla Ruff (Seattle, Wash.) placed third in the 200 IM in 2:12.31, Connie Rae Shobaken (Tualatin, Ore.) came in third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:12.35, and Shelby Remillard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placed fourth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.00.
In the 200 freestyle relay, Cobb, Nguyen, Doi, and Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) took second with a time of 1:40.68. Nguyen, Morehouse, Boggs, and Henan also teamed up for a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:01.64.
The Redhawks will return home to compete against Whitworth University at the Connolly Center on Jan. 28 beginning at 5:00 pm, followed by another home meet on Jan. 29 against the University of Nevada for the women, beginning at 10:30 am..
