2012-2013: At WAC Championships Feb. 27 to March 2, Ruff took 17th in the 200 yard breaststroke with a finals time of 2:23.54 (preliminary time 2:25.36) ...  took 22nd in the 200 yard individual medley with a finals time of 2:08.94 (preliminary time 4:37.57) ... swam the 400 yard IM in 4:35.99 ... swam the anchor leg of the 800 yard freestyle relay in 1:55.64 (relay time 7:48.55).

On Jan 18-19, Ruff swam second leg of 400 yard medley relay in 1:08.46 (relay time 4:16.35) ... took third in 200 yard IM with a time of 2:13.75 ... won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.17 ... took third in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.10 ... swam the 100 yard freestyle in 56:51 ... and anchored second place 400 yard freestyle relay in 54.51 (relay time 3:39.48)

Versus Whitworth on Jan. 12, Ruff won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:57.32 ... took second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.25 ... touched first in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:37.83.

On Nov. 30 to De.c 2 in the Husky Invitational, Ruff swam the 400 IM preliminaries with a time of 4:39.75, finished 49th ... took the 200 yard Freestyle in 1:59.72, finished 104th ... anchored the 800 yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 8:02.57, took 30th.

Versus Simon Fraser Nov. 10, Ruff won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:10.33 ... swam the 200 yard Breastroke in 2:24.24, taking second ... anchored third-place 400 yard Freestyle Relay with a leg of 55.74  (relay time of 3:50.08).

At CSU Bakersfield Oct. 20, Ruff finished 100 yard Breast in 1:07.12, taking second ... swam 200 yard Breast with a relay of 2:23.56 and placed second ... wonthe 200 yard ID with a time of 2:10.45.

At Idaho Oct. 13, Ruff took third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.06 ... placed third in the 200 breast at 2:24.79 ... finished third in 200 yard IM at 2:13.26 ... swam the second leg for the fourth-place 200 yard medley relay team in 30.73 (relay time of 1:53.46).

At Washington State Oct. 12, Ruff swam the 200 yard Freestyle with a time of 1:58.55 and took fourth place ... swam the 200 yard Breast with a time of 2:25.54 and took second place ... finished 400 yard IM with 4:39.54, placing second.

2011-12: At Boise State (Oct. 14-15), swam 200 yard IM in 2:16.05 ... swam 100 yard breaststroke in 1:10.05.

On October 22, in a home meet against UC Davis and Idaho, Ruff competed in the 100 yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:08.58...swam in the 200 yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:29.80...took fifth in the 200 yard IM (2:12.21).

At Oregon State University on October 29, placed fifth in the 400 Medley Relay (relay time of 4:13.00)... took third in the 100 yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:09.60...swam the 100 yard Butterfly in 1:02.17... placed second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:12.63.

At Pacific on Nov. 5, Ruff took second in the 200 yard medley with a time of 2:14.73 ... fourth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.05 ... swam the 100 breast in 1:09.44 ... participated in the 400 yard medley relay.

At the University of Denver on November 12, swam and finished the 200 Individual medley in 2:16.00, finishing twelvth ... came in ninth in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:29.73.

In a home meet versus Boise State on Nov. 19, Ruff took third in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.30 ... third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:39.45, ... fourth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.48.

In home meet versus Simon Fraser and Washington State (Jan. 21), swam 400 yard IM in 4:45.69 ... swam 100 freestyle in 56.54 ... participated in 100 breast.

In home dual meet versus Simon Fraser (Jan. 20), won 200 yard IM in 2:11.06 ... fourth in 100 free with time of 56.87 ... fourth in 200 breast with time of 2:27.62.

At Nevada Jan. 28, won 200 yard freestyle with time of 1:59.45 ... took third place in 200 breast with time of 2:27.64 ... swam second leg of 200 medley relay in 31.61 (relay time 2:01.62).

At MPSF Championships Feb. 15-18, swam 200 yard breaststroke in 2:27.30 ... swam 400 individual medley in 4:40.47 during bonus final (preliminary time 4:39.03) ... swam 200 IM during bonus final in 2:10.26 (preliminary time 2:10.17) ... swam second leg of 800 free relay in 1:56.66 (relay time 7:45.94).

2010-11: At the University of Idaho on Oct. 8, Ruff placed 6th in the 400 IM in 4:49.14 

At the University of Hawaii on Oct. 15-16, she placed 4th in the 200 IM in 2:12.99 ... Placed 2nd in the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.54 ... Placed 3rd in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.33 ... Placed 1st in the 400 IM in 4:42.05 

On Nov. 6 at Pacific, Ruff swam the third leg in the 200 medley relay (1:53.64) ... Swam the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.72 ... Placed seventh in the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.56 ... Placed fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.50 

 At UC Davis on Nov. 7, she swam the third leg in the 200 medley relay with a split of 28.13 (1:52.95) ... Placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.91 ... Placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.66 ... Finished sixth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:52.46 

On Nov. 13 at Seattle U's home meet against Simon Fraser, Ruff finished third in the 200 IM in 2:12.21 ... Placed fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.35 

At Utah on Dec. 3, she swam the third leg on the third-place 400 medley relay (4:05.62) ... Finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.63 ... Placed third in the 400 IM in 4:44.50 

On Dec. 4 at BYU, Ruff was the third leg on the fifth-place 200 medley relay (1:53.50) ... Finished the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.62 ... Placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.96 ... Was fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:16.57

On Jan. 14-15 at Boise State, Ruff finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.96 ... Finished sixth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.65 ... Swam the final leg on the third-place 800 freestyle relay in 2:01.87 (8:14.62) ... Finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:26.71 

Against Whitworth on Jan. 28, she placed second in the 400 IM in 4:40.38 ... Placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.65 

Against Nevada on Jan. 29, Ruff was the lead leg on the fourth-place 200 medley relay (1:58.68) ... Placed second in the 200 IM in 2:11.11, a new personal record ... Placed second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.90

On Feb. 5 against Boise St. and Oregon St, Ruff swam the third leg of the sixth-place 200 medley relay in 27.79 ... Finished sixth in the 100 breasttroke in 1:08.07 ... Placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11. 24 ...

At the MPSF Championships, Ruff swam on the 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:49.12 ... Finished the 200 IM in 2:09.40 ... Swam the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.59 ... 

2009-2010: On October 3, Ruff swam against the Unoversity of Puget Sound. She competed in the 300 Backstroke with a 1:04.92, the 800 Freestyle Relay with a 2:04.67, the 500 Freestyle Relay with a 2:04.66, the 200 Freestyle with a 26.99, and the 400 Freestyle Relay with a 58.34.

 

At Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference Championships, competed in 400 Individual Medley, placed 13th with a time of 4:43.11 ... competed in 100 Breaststroke, placed 16th with a time of 1:08.68. 

 

High School: Ruff was a four year varsity athlete for Roosevelt High School.  She competed in district championships all four years and the state championships her last three.  She helped the Roughriders place fourth in state in 2006 and was given the Coaches' Award her senior year. 

Club Experience: Ruff swam for Salmon Bay Aquatics 2005-2009, Cascade Swim Team 2009-2010, and Olympics Cascade Aquatics from 2010 to the present.  She swam on the senior national team at Salmon Bay in 2009 and has been on the senior national team for Olympic Cascade since 2010. 

Personal: Full name is Karla Elaine Ruff.  Her parents are Sharon Eloranta and Karl Ruff, and she has a younger brother named Ray.  She is a humanities for teaching major and wants to be an elementary school teacher after graduation.  She is a Student to Student Representative for Seattle University and an Admissions Coach for ORCAS.  She competes in triathlons, placing 104th out of over 3000 in a 2011 race.  She enjoys reading, baking, and giving campus tours in her spare time.
