Sets Five Indoor Records at UW Early Opener
Travis Glover, Robert Poshusta, Rachel Purcell, Kamala Squires, and Women’s 4x400 Records
The Seattle University Indoor Track Team opened the season with a bang Saturday afternoon at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the . set five school records on their way to an impressive day.
Travis Glover tied the school record in the 60 meter dash when he ran a time of 7.25 seconds to finish in ninth place. Glover also ran well in the 200 meters, placing sixth in a time of 23.23 seconds.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Robert Poshusta broke his own school record by running a time of 9.65 seconds to finish eleventh.
On the women’s side Rachel Purcell ran a school record time of 1:01.10 in the 400 meters to place ninth. Also setting a school record was Kamala Squires who ran 50.07 seconds in the 300 meters to place second.
The women also got a school record in the 4x400 meters by running a time of 4:21.86 to finish fifth. The relay included Courtney Cabebe, Erin Moon, Elizabeth Wolf, and Purcell.
also ran well in the 5000 meters, placing six in the top 15. Katie Hansen led the way by running a time of 18:48.62 to finish third. Right behind her was Rachel Yorkston in fifth (18:58.09), Tiffany Hunter in ninth (20:12.52), Julia Miller (20:36.97), Kerriane Quiocho in 13th (21:02.74), and Haley McGoldrick in 15th (21:21.81).
In the Men’s 5000 meters, was led by the Heitzinger brothers with Nathan Heitzinger finishing 17th in 16:07.07 and Hans Heitzinger finishing in 27th in 17:03.14. Alec Adams also competed finishing 29th in 17:11.05.
The Men’s 4x400 also posted a good placing by finishing third with a time of 3:29.48. ’s team was comprised of Glover, d'Andre Benjamin, Poshusta, and Marc Massey.
Leading in the field events was Lindsay Currier who placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 33-5.75.
Seattle Indoor Track will next compete on Saturday, January 19 back at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the .
