2008 Cross Country: Katie won two open races during the season, finishing first at both the Pier Park Preview (22:19.64) and the Beaver Classic (21:10.18). After finishing in 62nd place at the Roy Griak Invitational (22:54.6), she finished third at the Emerald City Open (23:15.45) and sixth at the Cascade Conference Preview (17:33.84). Katie earned Female Student-Athlete of the Year honors for her exemplary performance both in running and in the classroom.
2007 Cross Country: Hansen again led the team throughout the season, culminating with a 23rd place at the NCAA West Regionals with a time of 21:42. She had three top-five finishes during the season, including a fifth place finish at the GNAC Championships in 22:07. She also finished fourth at both the Emerald City Invitational (23:54.99) and the Western Washington Invitational (22:51.2). At Portland's Pier Park Preview, she finished 13th with a time of 22:38, and also placed 14th at the Charles Bowles Invitational in 18:05.75. She earned All-Academic honors from both the GNAC and the USTFCCCA for her performances both in the classroom and in competition.
2006 Cross Country: Katie led the team in each of the first three races before missing the rest of the year with a foot injury. She set a personal best with a time of 22:40 at the Sundodger Invitational, good enough for 20th place. She finished third at the Emerald City Invitational in a time of 23:31.36. Hansen ran 5k time of 18:19.65 good for 14th place at the Charles Bowles Invite in Salem, Ore.
2005 Cross Country: One of Seattle's top runners throughout season ... Finished 7th at season-opening Emerald City Invitational (19:19.24 - 5000m) ... Placed 25th in open division at Sundodger Invitational (22:58 - 6000m) ... Ran 23:42 on 6000-meter course for 19th place finish at Western Washington Invitational ... Finished 21st with time of 23:53 over 6000 meters at Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship meet at Lake Padden in Bellingham, Wash. ... Took 44th place in time of 24:08.60 on 6000-meter course at NCAA Regional Meet in Chico, Calif.
High School: Katie was a team captain and earned Most Inspirational and MVP awards during her career at Sam Barlow High School. Her best time in the 5k for cross country was 19:21, and she also posted 4:53 for 1500 meters and 2:19 for 800 meters. She was also a member of the ski team that went to the state tournament.
Personal: Katie is the daughter of Janene Thomas and Scott Hansen. She is majoring in biology at Seattle University. Katie enjoys traveling and playing the piano in her spare time.
