SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Seattle U cross country finished their season on Friday, November 10 at the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento. The women's team finished 25th place out of 37 total teams in the 6k, and the men's team finished in 28th place out of 29 total teams in the 10k.

Azalea Groleau was the top finisher for the women's team, finishing in 70th place out of 256 total runners and breaking the school record for the women's 6k once again with her time of 20:47.9, improving her time from last years regionals by about 26 seconds and placement of 118th. Groleau previously set the school record for the women's 6k earlier in the season with her time of 20:56.3 at the George Oja Invitational on October 14. Groleau now holds the fourth place spot in school history for placement in the regionals with her 70th place finish. The next Seattle U team member to cross the finish line was Lilianne Hargreaves, who finished in 117th place with a time of 21:24.8, tying fifth place in school records. Hargreaves improved her time by about 28 seconds and her placement of 179th at last years regionals. Rowan Cuadrado was the next to finish, in 150th place with a personal best time of 21:56.1.

On the men's side, Yonas Sauers earned himself a new personal best and third place spot in school records for the men's 10k with his time of 31:08.4. Sauers finished in 90th place out of 205 total runners. Gus Harquail was the next to cross the finish line in 153rd place with a time of 32:28.6. Khalid Hirsi was next to complete the race in 183rd place with a time of 33:32.4.

"Azalea put an exclamation on one of the finest cross country seasons in Seattle University history with a tremendous performance once again. Setting another program history best time wise, and the fourth highest finish in the west regionals." says head coach Kelly Sullivan. "Teammate Lili Hargreaves also capped off her best collegiate season as did Rowan Cuadrado. Yonas did a great job bouncing back from WAC where he was really sick and did a solid job of recovering from that in a short time. Gus' performance was also impressive as he missed most of the fall rehabbing an unfortunately sore achilles. I'm really proud of them both. Both groups are really looking forward to the upcoming indoor season with the sprinters, jumps, throws and multi events plus getting a few more teammates back that didn't compete during the fall." he continues.

The Redhawks will look to continue the improvements they made this season onto the track, as they will compete in indoor and outdoor track in the winter and spring.
