ESTACADA, Ore. – Seattle U cross country took part in one of the largest cross country races in the country on Saturday as over 500 runners gathered for the Lewis & Clark Invite. The women's team shined in today's 6.08k race as they finished second (98 points) out of 23 teams, beating the likes of 18th ranked Portland and 30th ranked Oregon State.

Sophomore Emily Harris was the first Redhawk to cross the finish line with a time of 22:19.3, placing 20th out of 250 runners. Redshirt sophomore Rowan Cuadrado finished just six seconds later, while fellow redshirt sophomore Fiona O'Leary concludes Seattle U's top three with a time of 22:42.7.

"I am so proud of the women's team for coming back this year so mentally and physically prepared," said Head Coach Kelly Sullivan. "Our ability to rebound so quickly after only having three runners compete last year really speaks volumes about our athletes."

Despite losing their number two runner earlier in the season, the men's team finished sixth (204 points) out of 26 teams in the 8k race.

"The men's team really rallied after having one of their top teammates go down earlier this week," said Sullivan. "They fought extremely hard and Giuliano was able to drop another 15 seconds off his time. This was a really great meet on a true cross country course. We can't wait for our next race."

Freshman Giuliano Scasso continued his run of strong performances, also finishing 20th with a time of 24:41.3. Behind Scasso, was redshirt freshman Jay Grant with a time of 25:21.2, while redshirt junior James Parker rounds out SU's top three with a time of 25:34.6.
