Gabe Wheeler (Round Rock, Texas) picked up two individual event victories, but Simon Fraser University earned the rest of the event wins as it defeated Seattle University, 162-98, Saturday afternoon in a dual meet at the Savage Swimming Pool.

Wheeler earned a close victory in the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:05.55, and then he was victorious in the 200 meter breaststroke with a mark of 2:23.26. Later in the meet, he finished in second place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:12.03.

Wheeler also swam the second leg of the meet-opening 400 meter medley relay, joining with Bart Wanot (Federal Way, Wash.), Jack Baldoni (Applegate, Calif.), and Tanner Schelling (Boise, Idaho) for a second place finish in that event with a time of 3:53.76. Wanot, Schelling, Baldoni, and Kyle Moline (Mercer Island, Wash.) combined to finish second in the 200 meter freestyle relay in 1:36.34.

Nick Connors (Richland, Wash.) finished second in both the 800 meter freestyle with a time of 8:45.62 and in the 400 meter freestyle with a mark of 4:13.05. Wanot earned a second place finish in the 100 meter backstroke in 59.61 seconds and in the 200 meter backstroke in 2:12.00, followed by Lee Van Farowe (Edmonds, Wash.) in third place in 2:14.29.

Schelling finished in second place in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 24.24 seconds, followed by Matt Morris (Lufkin, Texas) in third place in 25.56 seconds. After the first break of the meet, Schelling touched the wall second in the 100 meter freestyle in 54.46 seconds, with John Fulmer (Kent, Wash.) finishing third in 55.52 seconds.

Seattle University (2-8) will have three weeks to prepare for the Western Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, to take place in San Antonio, Texas, Feb. 25-28.
