In a rematch of a meet held Friday night, the Seattle University men’s swim team fell to Grand Canyon University, 139-65, and Arizona State University, 124-76, Saturday afternoon in a collegiate swim meet held at the Connolly Center Pool.
Similar to the previous night, junior Nick Connors (Richland, Wash.) performed well for the Redhawks, finishing second in the 1000 freestyle in 9:54.41 and fourth in the 500 freestyle in 4:57.36. Tanner Schelling (Boise, Idaho) also finished second in an individual event, earning runner-up status in the 50 freestyle in 21.09 seconds, plus he finished fifth in the 100 freestyle in 46.91 seconds.
Schelling also anchored the Redhawk 200 medley relay that finished third, joining with Bart Wanot (Federal Way, Wash.), Gabe Wheeler (Round Rock, Texas), and Jack Baldoni (Applegate, Calif.) to post a time of 1:36.10.
Baldoni led off the 200 freestyle relay for Seattle U, combining with Kyle Moline (Mercer Island, Wash.), Michael Cox (Maple Valley, Wash.), and Lee Van Farowe (Edmonds, Wash.) for a third place finish with a time of 1:27.87. Wanot finished third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.26, while Moline finished fourth in the 200 butterfly in 1:54.89.
The Seattle University men’s swim team will take part in a neutral-site meet Saturday, Nov. 8, facing the Bakersfield Roadrunners at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, starting at 12 noon.
