Senior Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) picked up another event victory, but it was not enough as the Seattle University women's swim team lost to Pacific, 153-52, and Fresno State, 142-63, in a double dual meet Friday evening at Kjeldsen Pool.
After falling behind early, Morehouse pushed past her two nearest competitors in the final 100 yards to win the 200 breaststroke in 2:19.73, her best time of the season. Kevlyn Richards (Gig Harbor, Wash.) finished fifth in the same event, also posting a season-best time of 2:24.60, as did Karla Ruff (Seattle, Wash.) in seventh place in 2:27.94.
Earlier in the meet, Ruff finished fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.47, with Richards touching the wall in sixth in 2:15.20. In the 200 butterfly, Ellyn Rivers (Elgin, Texas) earned a fourth-place finish with a season-best time of 2:12.73, followed by Megan Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev.) in fifth place in 2:13.38 and Mackenzie Gant (Richland, Wash.) in sixth place in 2:15.00.
Both Seattle U "A" relays earned fourth-place finishes, starting with the 200 medley relay quartet of Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.), Morehouse, Tessa Franke (Santa Monica, Calif.), and Nicole Doi (Pleasanton, Calif.) posting a time of 1:52.10. Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), Nguyen, Franke, and Melissa Randolf (Everett, Wash.) finished the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.18.
Bethany Gehrke (Lynnwood, Wash.) finished in fifth place in the 1650 freestyle in 18:06.92, just ahead of Casey Hoffman (Federal Way, Wash.) in sixth place in 18:07.76. Doi touched the wall fifth in the 50 freestyle in 25.38 seconds, with Randolf right behind her in sixth in 25.45 seconds.
The Seattle University women's swim team will face Pacific again Saturday, Nov. 5, beginning at 12 p.m., with Cal State Bakersfield competing as the third team in that double dual meet.
