Senior Mara Becker (Fairbanks, Alaska) continued to write her name in the SeattleU record book, setting a new outdoor standard in the high jump after clearing 1.62 meters (5'3.75") to finish in a tie for fifth place.
The other record to fall came in the men's 3000 meter run, as Erik Barkhaus (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) broke his own school record by almost ten full seconds, finishing in 10th place with a time of 8:44.86. Nicholas Alvarado (San Francisco, Calif.) finished in 13th place with a time of 8:45.99, and Hans Heitzinger (Scottsdale, Ariz.) crossed the finish line in 17th place in 8:49.38, with both times also lower than the previous school record.
Zach Stanfield (Adna, Wash.) came close in his two individual efforts, winning his heat and finishing third overall in the 200 meter dash in 22.08 seconds, just 2/100ths of a second off the school record. He also finished fourth overall in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.87 seconds, only 15/100ths of a second off the school record.
Daniel Sullivan (Tukwila, Wash.) finished seventh overall in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.54 seconds, while Michael Van Nuland (Newcastle, Wash.) posted a time of 6:21.18 in the 2000 meter steeplechase, good enough for an eighth place finish. Tom Mezzera (San Francisco, Calif.) placed tenth overall in the 400 meter dash in 49.60 seconds, and then he led off the 4x100 meter relay, joining Stanfield, Sullivan, and Jude Martinez (Hagatna, Guam) for a fourth place finish in 42.62 seconds.
In other women's events, Jennifer Stolle (Seattle, Wash.) finished fourth in her section of the 1500 meter run in 4:51.65, while Clare Obradovich (Tigard, Ore.) finished second in her heat and ninth overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 61.41 seconds.
Alyssa Lout (Tempe, Ariz.) ran the 100 meter dash in 13.07 seconds, and then joined Obradovich, Meeghan Bergmann (Portland, Ore.) and Elizabeth Wolf (Albuquerque, N.M.) to post a time of 51.00 seconds in the 4x100 meter relay. Bergmann, Wolf, Elena Collins (Eugene, Ore.), and Obradovich finished sixth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:06.12.
In the field events, Navotni Minter (Edmond, Okla.) finished 12th in the long jump with a top effort of 4.70 meters (15'5"). In the triple jump, Amanda Luna (Beavercreek, Ore.) finished 11th with a top leap of 10.25 meters (33'7.5") and Becca Urbany (Damascus, Ore.) finished 12th with a best effort of 10.15 meters (33'3.75").
The Seattle University track and field team next competes at the Willamette Invitational April 2-3 in Salem, Ore.
