The Seattle University women’s swim team finished first three times, but the depth of the Loyola Marymount squad proved to be the difference as the Lady Lions defeated the Redhawks, 125-78, Sunday afternoon in a dual meet at the Burns Aquatic Center.
For the second straight day, Hayley Cobb () won the 200 individual medley, knocking over seven-tenths of a second off her time against Cal State Bakersfield by finishing the race in 2:12.07. She also finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:17.05 and joined Elizabeth Hanohano (, ), Kelsey Henan (, ), and Kaci Dudley () in winning the 800 freestyle relay in 8:06.19.
Alexis Morehouse () won the 200 breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:23.37. She also swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay, joining Sarena Hobson (, ), Heather Nelson (, ), and Hanna Basler () in finishing second with a time of 1:52.71.
Casey Hoffman (, ) finished second in the 1650 freestyle in 18:11.87, while Tina Nguyen () took second place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:14.66. Nelson finished third in both the 200 butterfly (2:15.36) and the 200 breaststroke (2:35.22), Hanohano touched the wall third in the 200 freestyle (1:58.78), Basler took third in the 200 backstroke (2:18.16), and earned a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:25.54).
Loyola Marymount does not have a men’s swim team, so the men swam against each other to keep in competition shape. Eric Pedack () finished first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.82), the 200 butterfly (2:00.08), and the 200 backstroke (2:03.34). James White (, ) won the 1650 freestyle (17:10.36) and the 500 freestyle (4:57.56), and Bryant Bevers () finished first in the 50 freestyle (21.87) and 100 freestyle (48.06).
The women head east in two weeks for dual meets against on Nov. 21 and on Nov. 22. Both the men and the women will then compete at the Husky Invitational hosted by the of in , on Dec. 4-6.
