The swim teams continued to face top competition early in the season, competing in a tri-meet with the of and the of at the Thursday afternoon.
Doug Djang (, ) was one of the top performers for the men, finishing third in the 100 breaststroke in 57.44 seconds and second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.76. James White () finished fourth in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:03.40 and fifth in the 500 freestyle in 4:52.53.
Bryson Chiu () also posted two top five performances, finishing fifth in the 100 backstroke in 55.07 seconds and in the 200 backstroke in 2:01.57. Jordan Anderson (, ) finished fifth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.64 seconds, followed by teammate Chris Fulton () in sixth place in 21.73 seconds.
To conclude the meet, the 400 freestyle relay team of Nathan Freeman (, ), Andrew Martinez (, ), Chase Winterroth (, ), and Jeff Tibbals () finished third with a time of 3:11.14. As a team, the Redhawk men lost to , 203-58, and to , 167-85.
On the women’s side, the meet started well, as the quartet of Tina Nguyen (, ), Alexis Morehouse (, ), Heather Nelson (, ), and Hayley Cobb () finished second in the 400 medley relay in 4:16.92. Cobb kept the momentum going, finishing fifth in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.51 and in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.20.
Casey Hoffman () also had a strong meet, finishing fifth in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:57.69 and fifth in the 500 freestyle in 5:23.23. Morehouse also performed well as the meet went along, finishing fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.55.
Elizabeth Hanohano () earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 54.09 seconds to go along with sixth-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (1:58.65) and the 100 butterfly (1:00.62). The Redhawk women lost to , 185-77, and to , 151-97.
The swim teams head to in a couple of weeks, first facing Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, Nov. 8, and Loyola Marymount on Sunday, Nov. 9. The teams do not host a meet at the until Saturday, Jan. 10, against .
