WEST SEATTLE, Wash. - Nicholas Dols (Portland, Ore.) ran a 1:53.58 in the 800 meter run to lead the Seattle University track and field team at the Ken Foreman Invitational at the West Seattle Stadium.
Dols' run was the second fastest over 800 meters in Redhawk history, narrowly missing the record held by Matt Blaine at 1:53.0. He finished sixth in the race.
On the women's side, Charisse Arce (Seattle, Wash.) finished eighth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:00.39. Jaime Clark (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jennifer Innes (San Bruno, Calif.) also competed in the event for the Redhawks, finishing with times of 5:27.17 and 5:33.03, respectively.
In the women's 3000 meter run, Rachel Yorkston (Bellingham, Wash.) ran a solid time of 11:18.55 to finish in 13th place, with Natalie Martinez (San Francisco, Calif.) close behind in 15th place with a time of 11:26.81.
In the sprints, Seattle got a strong performance in the 400 meter dash from Loyal Allen, Jr. (Seattle, Wash.), who finished seventh with a time of 51.83. In the 100 meter dash, Seattle was led by Tomi Keah (Austin, Texas), who ran 11.45, and Daniel Sullivan (Tukwila, Wash.), clocked at 11.50. The pair finished next to each other in eighth and ninth place.
The field events were led by Redhawks thrower Lindsay Currier (Beaverton, Ore.). Currier placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 34' 7". In the discus throw she placed fifth with a top effort of 133' 3".
On the men's side, Garrett Brown (Edmonds, Wash.) placed fourth in the triple jump with a top leap of 42' 5.5". Seattle University performed well in the one relay it entered, as the quartet of Allen, Brown, Keah, and Sullivan finished second in the men's 4x100 relay with a time of 43.90 seconds.
The meet concludes the season for the Redhawks. Although nobody qualified for the national championships, the track and field team set several school records and return many of its top performers for the 2007-08 season.
