SEATTLE - Seattle U men's and women's swimming opened their 2024 seasons by hosting Grand Canyon and California Baptist over the weekend. The Redhawks dropped both head-to-head match ups but still had a strong opening performance to the season.
"I'm really pleased with how the weekend went," said head coach Joe Dykstra. "After only a few weeks of training we were putting up times that we didn't hit till the second half of the season the past couple years. We were even close to some best times and close to school records in some of the men's relays. I think the team is really excited to keep working and improving, and for the potential of this season to be realized."
Seattle U put up several impressive times over the 2-day meet, highlighted by a 1st place finish by Cole Lanting (1:52.47) in the men's 200 Yard IM. The Redhawks had a total of 18 top 3 finishes.
Men's swimming lost their match ups with Grand Canyon, 111.0-201.00, and to California Baptist, 103.00-205.00. The women lost their battles with Grand Canyon, 66.00-246.00, and to California Baptist, 83.50-228.50.
