Men’s 4x100m Sets School Record at OSU High Performance Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Seattle U track and field traveled down to Corvallis, Oregon to compete at the Oregon State High Performance Meet. The Redhawks had a weekend full of excellent performances, highlighted by the men's 4x100m shattering the school record.

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Seattle U track and field traveled down to Corvallis, Oregon to compete at the Oregon State High Performance Meet. The Redhawks had a weekend full of excellent performances, highlighted by the men's 4x100m shattering the school record.

The quartet of Isaiah Payne, Kavon Holden, Noah Payne, and Miguel Rosario III clocked in a time of 41.23 seconds in the 4x100, taking second overall in the meet. The mark shatters the previous school record of 41.51 seconds, which the Redhawks tied just two weeks ago at the Long Beach State Invite.

The excellent performances from the men's 4x100 also translated into the open 100m dash, where three Redhawks set top-ten times. Isaiah Payne led the way, finishing in a time of 10.60 seconds to take fourth overall. The time by Payne improves on his standing of second in school history, and is only .01 away from the school record.

Noah Payne and Kavon Holden both clocked in new personal bests in the 100m dash as well. Payne finished in 10.79 seconds, while Holden was in close pursuit, finishing the race in 10.80 seconds. Payne improves to fourth in school history, while Holden is now fifth.

The women's 4x100m also had a stellar race, as the team of Taylor Marks, Julie Smith, Reyna Dismukes, and Zoe Tibbo worked together to finish in 48.99 seconds. The effort by the team places them sixth on the SU top-ten list, and are only .01 away from fifth.

Taylor Marks also had a breakthrough race in the women's 200m dash. Marks set a big personal best of 25.79 seconds to place seventh overall in the meet. The huge race from Marks now moves her from seventh on the SU top-ten list to fifth.

Livii Fetterley continues her streak of top-ten performances this season. In the 100m hurdles, Fetterley finished in a time of 15.44, crushing her old seasons best of 15.74 seconds. Fetterley now improves from sixth on the top-ten list to fifth in the event. Additionally, in the shotput, Fetterley threw a mark of 10.34m, which moves her to eighth in school history.

In the men's 800m, Alex Jensen set a new personal best of 1:54.40, which moves him from tenth in school history to eighth.

Multiple freshman set top-ten marks this weekend. First, in the 400m hurdles, freshman Jocelyn Garcia set a new personal best of 1:10.88, which improves on her eighth place standing in school history in the event.

Miguel Rosario III made a big statement in his first outdoor 200m race of his college career. Rosario sprinted his way to a 21.79 second finish to place him fourth on the school record board. Teammate Isaiah Payne had an exceptional race as well, clocking in a time of 21.71 seconds to finish fourth overall in the meet.

True freshman Jamaari Jefferson had a great day in both long jump and triple jump. In his collegiate triple jump debut, Jefferson jumped a mark of 12.67 meters, finishing eight overall in the meet and placing him ninth on the SU top-ten list. In the long jump, Jefferson got In close proximity of his school record, jumping 6.86 meters to place third overall in the meet.

Zoe Tibbo was another freshman who got herself on the top-ten list. In the long jump, Tibbo led the team, setting a new personal best in the event of 5.32 meters. The effort by Tibbo tied her for seventh in school history.

Senior Tom Topinka competed in the long jump for the first time in his colleigate career. Topinka jumped a mark of 6.21 meters, tying him for ninth in school history with current teammate Amadeus Eckart

In the men's steeplechase, Hezekiah Goodwin had a stellar performance, leading almost the entirety of the race to finish first in his heat with a new personal best of 9:17.70. Goodwin improves on his third place standing in school history in the event.

The Redhawks will take two weeks to taper and prepare for postseason action, as they will travel down to Nacogdoches, Texas for the WAC Championships on May 13-15.
