PREVIEW: WBB at Washington, Weber State

SEATTLE - Seattle U women's basketball concludes its three game road trip this weekend, heading to Washington and Weber State for nonconference matchups. The Redhawks will take on the Huskies first, making the trip across Montlake Wednesday, with the game starting at 7 p.m. and streaming on the Pac-12 Plus Network. Seattle U then travels to Ogden, Utah, for its first ever meeting with Weber State on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. pacific time with streaming on ESPN+.

HOWARD LEADING BY EXAMPLE
Junior Peyton Howard currently holds sixth place in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in minutes played per game (31.4), ranking second on the team in scoring at 8.4 per game. Howard finished one point short of tying her career-high against UC Irvine on November 19, recording 14 points on six of 13 from the field. The native of Spokane, Wash., has been a menace on defense, logging two or more steals in three of SU's five games. 

BEST THREE-POINT PERFORMANCE 
Sophomore Julianna Walker recorded the WAC's best three-point performance of the season, logging six made threes against Portland State on November 17. Only Kaylee Best has made more three-pointers in one game, draining seven at Grand Canyon back in 2017. Courtney Murphy was the last Redhawk to make six, acieving the feat three times in 2019. 
Walker currently leads the Redhawks in made three-pointers with 11, while shooting 40.7% from distance. The Tacoma, Wash., native also poured in three three-pointers against Oregon State to open the season on November 10. 

CLARK CAN SCORE
Sophomore Taliyah Clark has scored eight plus points in four of SU's five games this season, leading the team in scoring with 9.2 per game. Clark set a new career-high against Portland State on November 17, draining five three-pointers in a 19 point performance. The native of Lynnwood, Wash., ranks first on the team in blocks (0.8) and points (9.2) per game and second in steals (1.0) and minutes played per game (25.8). 

BENCH IMPACT
The Redhawks have had three different double-digit scorers off the bench in their first five games. Sheridan Liggett opened the season with 10 points against the Beavers, while Irena Korolenko logged 14 against the Ducks and Mya Moore had 10 points against Portland State. Noemie Bariteau and Mya Moore finished just short of double-digits against UC Irvine, with Bariteau finishing with eight points, five rebounds and two steals and assists while Moore had nine points and five rebounds. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Dalayah Daniels (11.8) and Haley Van Dyke (10.3) lead the Huskies, with both averaging double-digits. Washington heads into this matchup after going 1-1 at the Las Vegas Tournament over the weekend, defeating Fordham 71-62 and falling to Santa Clara 58-71. 

The Wildcats are lead by Daryn Hickok and Jadyn Matthews, with both averaging 15 points per game. Weber State took part in the Providence Tournament over the weekend, finishing 1-1 after losing to Providence, 55-62, and then defeating Hartford, 71-44. They will take on Utah State at home before facing off with the Redhawks on Saturday.
