"New Mexico State had our number this weekend,” said head coach Dan Powers. “I give credit to their approach at the plate and taking our pitchers off their game. Our hitters battled better each game of the series, but we still have work to do before seeing them again at the WAC tournament."
Seattle U will travel to Orem, Utah to face Utah Valley next weekend for a three game conference series.
Game 1: New Mexico State 10, Seattle U 1
The Aggies walked home the opening run in the first, but Alyssa Reuble (Lynnwood, Wash.) would pitch the Redhawks out of an early bind, leaving the bases loaded to end the inning. Driving the dagger in the second, Stacy Rodriguez cleared the bases with a grand slam to give NMSU a 5-0 lead through two innings.
NMSU scored tacked on three in the top of the third on a Brennalyn Nakamura two-run double that narrowly stayed fair down the right field line and a two-out sacrifice fly by Rodriguez.
Isabella Geronimo (San Mateo, Calif.) scored the Redhawks’ lone run of the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single to left field, bringing home Maddy Kristjanson (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) to cut the SU deficit, 8-1. The Aggies would add a run apiece in the fourth and fifth, including a solo homer to center field by Kelsey Dodd in the fourth, to earn the five-inning win.
Reuble suffered the loss in the circle allowing eight runs on four hits while walking six and striking out one in 2 1/3 innings. Lindsay Davis (Palo Cedro, Calif.) entered in relief allowing the final two runs on four hits while walking three and striking out one in 2 2/3 innings of work.

The Aggies jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first two innings before Seattle U scored in the bottom of the fourth on a Jenny Hurst (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) RBI single to right field, bringing home Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) who reached base on an infield single.
NMSU added a single run apiece in the fifth and seventh innings, the first on a wild pitch and the second on a sacrifice fly, to earn the victory and sweep the series.
Paige Bouska (Keizer, Ore.) led the Redhawks at the plate, batting 2-for-4 as the teams equaled in total hits (8) over the contest.
