The Redhawks earned the doubles point with victories at No. 1 by Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) and Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and No. 3 by Riley Newman (Whidbey Island, Wash.) and Connor Leahy (Portland, Ore.) to take the early 1-0 lead.
UTPA’s Alejandro Sanoja tied the match with a victory at No. 5 singles, but Ian Clare (Sachse, Texas) would regain the lead, 2-1, for the Redhawks with a win in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
The Broncs, however, would reply with three straight singles victories at No. 6, No. 4, and No. 2, all in straight sets to clinch the victory.
Lynch and Bediones, with the loss, complete their collegiate career with today’s match.
