IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME: Weather permitting, Seattle University will take the field for the first time in almost two full weeks when the Redhawks begin the week with a game at Oregon State Tuesday. After the Portland midweek series March 11-12, the weekend series scheduled at Chicago State was postponed, and the team spent last week taking winter quarter finals. Seattle U will play at Oregon State Tuesday and at Portland Wednesday before finally playing its first conference games of the season with a weekend series against Texas-Pan American.

WAC LEADERS: Through March 23, Landon Cray is third in the conference with a .351 batting average, sixth in slugging percentage at .474, and ninth in on-base percentage at .431. Brian Olson is tied for third in the WAC with 16 runs batted in. On the mound, Grant Gunning leads the league with a 0.50 earned run average, with Connor Moore in eighth place with a 2.73 ERA. Mac Acker is tied for third in the WAC with three victories and tied for ninth with 26 strikeouts. Defensively, Brian Olson and Grant Newton each have earned a 1.000 fielding percentage, with Newton eighth in the league in both chances with 134 and putouts with 115.

SCOUTING OREGON STATE: The Beavers enter the week with a 19-5 overall record after losing two of three to Arizona State over the weekend. Oregon State is still in the top 10 in the baseball polls this week. As a team, the Beavers have compiled a .281 batting average, a .980 fielding percentage, and a 2.01 earned run average. Michael Conforto leads the team with a .373 batting average, six doubles, two triples, 30 runs batted in, and 28 walks. Kavin Keyes is batting .345 with a team-high 29 hits, while Dylan Davis has contributed two home runs and 24 runs batted in. On the mound, Scott Schultz has made nine appearances so far this season, posting a 3-2 record with a 1.80 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 35 innings of work.

SCOUTING PORTLAND: The Pilots are 5-18 overall after being swept by Saint Mary’s in a three-game WCC series over the weekend. Portland has lost eight games in a row coming into Wednesday’s contest. As a team, the Pilots have combined for a .213 batting average, a .970 fielding percentage, and a 4.49 earned run average. Bo Cornish leads the team with a .278 batting average, while Caleb Whalen is batting .268 with 13 runs scored, 22 hits, including three home runs, and 11 runs batted in. Colin Feldtman is scheduled to make the start for the Pilots, bringing a 1-3 record with a 2.25 earned run average into the contest.

SCOUTING TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN: The Broncs enter the week with a 11-15 overall record, including a 1-2 record in the WAC after losing two of three games to New Mexico State over the weekend. Texas-Pan American will face TCU in a midweek series before making the trip to the Pacific Northwest. As a team, the Broncs have combined for a .237 batting average, a .969 fielding percentage, and a 3.73 earned run average. Alex Howe leads the team with a .345 batting average, earning 29 hits, including seven doubles, and 18 runs batted in, along with nine stolen bases.
