Bend High School: Newton was a three-year varsity starter for the Lava Bears.  He was named IMC Player of the Year and to the South Team in the 6A/5A Oregon All-Star Series in 2011.  In both 2010 and 2011 he was named First Team All-League and First Team All-State.  He was the team's Rookie of the Year in 2009, and also made Second Team All-League that year.  He was an Oregon Sports Awards Nominee for the Prep Athlete of the Year (6A/5A) in 2010 while also being named Bend's Athlete of the Month.  He helped lead Bend to the State playoffs all four years and to the IMC title in 2008 and 2009. 

Club Experience: Newton played for the Bend Elks 2010 and 2011 and for Baseball Northwest in 2009 and 2010. 

Personal: Full name Grant Logan Newton. His parents are Dawn and Darrell Newton, and he has an older sister named Chelsea. Newton is majoring in accounting and enjoys fishing, white-water wafting, and traveling.
