The Seattle University swim teams were well represented as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic Scholar-Athletes were announced by conference executive director Al Beaird Monday, with 10 Redhawk men and 12 Seattle U women earning the honor for their performance in the classroom.

Seattle U led the way in number of honorees on both the men's and the women's side. For the men, the Redhawks finished with 10 MPSF All-Academic selections, ahead of fellow conference members University of the Pacific (eight) and Cal State Bakersfield (six). The number of honorees for the Seattle U women, 12, was one more than the 11 honorees each from Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount, and UC Davis.

Senior Andrew Martinez (Concord, Calif.) was honored alongside juniors Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.), Keith Andrews (Hillsboro, Ore.), James Gilmore (Eugene, Ore.), Eric Pedack (Snohomish, Wash.), and James White (El Cajon, Calif.). Sophomores Owen Bley-Male (Portland, Ore.), Tyler Carriker (Everett, Wash.), Chris Lynch (Melbourne, Australia), and Joe Wertz (Richland, Wash.) were also recognized.

Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.), having completed her four years of competition in the Seattle U swim program, earned the MPSF All-Academic honor, as did juniors Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), Casey Hoffman (Burien, Wash.), Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.), Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.), and Connie Rae Shobaken (Tualatin, Ore.). Sophomores Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.), Megan Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev.), Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.), Shelby Remillard (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Kevlyn Richards (Gig Harbor, Wash.), and Karla Ruff (Seattle, Wash.) were also included among the MPSF All-Academic selections.

To be selected for the MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must have a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average, must be at least a sophomore academically, must have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to this season, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's competitions. The MPSF named 24 men and 76 women All-Academic Scholar-Athletes for swimming in the 2010-11 academic year.

Seattle University is currently searching for a new head coach for the men's and women's swim program as it prepares for the 2011-12 season.
