The Redhawks set multiple records in the third day of competition at the MPSF Championships.

On the third day of competition, Murray Longbotham (Mercer Island, Wash.) won his second event of the MPSF Championships at the Belmont Plaza, setting his second MPSF meet record and a new Seattle University school record at the meet.

Longbotham swam the 200 freestyle in 1:38.72, passing the MPSF meet record of 1:39.77 and the Seattle U record of 1:38.74. Tomas Mendez-Beck (Hillsboro, Ore.) finished sixth in 1:42.06, and Nicolas Morrell (Bend, Ore.) came in ninth for the Redhawks with a time of 1:41.14.

Joe Wertz (Richland, Wash.) beat the MPSF meet record and placed third in the 400 IM in 3:57.82. James Gilmore (Eugene, Ore.) came behind him in fifth with a time of 4:01.05. Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) came in third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.88, followed by Owen Bley-Male (Portland, Ore.) in ninth in 50.67 and Eric Pedack (Snohomish, Wash.) in 11th with a time of 51.59. In the 100 breaststroke, Erin Warren (Seattle, Wash.) finished fifth with a time of 56.49, and Chris Lynch (Melbourne, Australia) came behind him in seventh in 56.62. James White (El Cajon, Calif.) swam for 11th in 59.69. In the 300 backstroke, Keith Andrews (Hillsboro, Ore.) placed third in 51.25, and Kyle Komlodi (Woodinville, Wash.) and Jeff Tibbals (Moscow, Idaho) came in eighth and ninth in 52.61 and 52.81, respectively.

Anderson, Andrews, Tibbals, and Longbotham all combined for a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:21.61.

Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) led the Redhawk women with an NCAA B qualifying and school record time of 1:01.99 in the 100 breaststroke, and finished fifth in the finals with a time of 1:02.98. Kevlyn Richards (Gig Harbor, Wash.) finished ninth with a time of 1:03.46.

Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) swam the 200 freestyle in 1:51.47 for a ninth place finish, and Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) finished tenth in the 100 butterfly for a new school record of 56.40. Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.) finished 12th in the 100 backstroke in 58.35, closely followed by teammate Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.) in 13th in 58.42.

Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.), Basler, Morehouse, and Cobb came in eighth in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:36.69, just missing the Seattle U record of 1:36.58.

After three days of competition, the Redhawk men have maintained their second-place team rating with 304 points, just 10 points ahead of Pacific. The women have moved up to just one point behind CS Bakersfield, staying in ninth place with 141.

The final day of the MPSF Swimming and Diving Championships will begin Saturday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 am with the 400 IM preliminaries.
