In his final collegiate competition, Sullivan won the 400 meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 53.40 seconds, over a full second ahead of his nearest competitor. Jude Martinez (Hagatna, Guam) finished in seventh place in the event with a time of 58.32 seconds.
Mezzera's victory was much closer, as he won the 400 meter dash by just 18/100ths of a second with a school record time of 47.52 seconds. Mezzera joined with Sullivan, Martinez, and Zach Stanfield (Adna, Wash.) to finish fourth in the 4x400 meter relay in 3:20.24. Sullivan, Martinez, Stanfield, and Christopher Fussell (Las Vegas, Nev.) competed in the 4x100 meter relay, finishing third in 41.58 seconds.
Individually, Stanfield finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.58 seconds and fourth in the 100 meter dash in 10.91 seconds. Dylan Burnett (Lynnwood, Wash.) also posted a third place finish in the javelin throw, earning a top mark of 52.75 meters (173' 1") in the event.
In the distance events, Dan Auld (Eugene, Ore.) posted another personal best time in the 800 meter run, finishing in sixth place with a time of 1:54.26. In the 1500 meter run, Kelton Sears (Maple Valley, Wash.) finished in fifth place with a time of 3:55.48. Nick Cannata-Bowman (San Francisco, Calif.) crossed the finish line in seventh place in the 5000 meter run in 15:24.38, followed by Erik Barkhaus (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) in eighth place in 15:30.23.
On the women's side, the 4x400 meter relay quartet of Meeghan Bergmann (Portland, Ore.), Elena Collins (Eugene, Ore.), Clare Obradovich (Tigard, Ore.), and Rachel Purcell (Mission Viejo, Calif.) accomplished their season-long goal of coming in under the four-minute mark, setting a new school record with a time of 3:55.44 to finish in fifth place. The foursome also combined for a seventh-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 49.55 seconds.
Jennifer Stolle (Seattle, Wash.) finished in seventh place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:42.81, while Sarah Bolce (Sacramento, Calif.) missed the top eight by just 39/100ths of a second, finishing ninth in 4:43.80. Lauren Hammerle (Seattle, Wash.) also missed out on claiming a point for the Redhawks in the 5000 meter run, crossing the finish line in ninth place with a time of 18:28.38.
In the field events, Becca Urbany (Damascus, Ore.) earned a point with an eighth place finish in the triple jump, posting a top leap of 10.68 meters (35' 0.5"). Brittany Philio (Renton, Wash.) also picked up a point with an eighth place finish in the javelin throw after a top toss of 30.29 meters (99' 4").
With both teams picked to finish sixth in the preseason coaches' poll, the Seattle U men's squad exceeded expectations with 67 points for fourth place, while the women's team proved the predictions true with 28 points for sixth place. Preseason favorite Utah Valley easily won both titles, compiling 261.5 points on the men's side and 301 points on the women's side.
