The Seattle University women's swim team used its depth Tuesday afternoon, as six different Redhawk swimmers won individual events to help SeattleU defeat the University of Alaska, 130-74, at the Connolly Center Pool.

The middle of the meet featured three closely contested races, beginning with the 200 individual medley, as Mariya Pavlovskaya of the University of Alaska defeated Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) by just 3/100ths of a second (2:11.57 to 2:11.60). Later in the meet, Morehouse did win the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.84.

Seattle University swept the top three places in the 100 butterfly, with Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) winning the race in 1:00.01, just ahead of teammates Shelby Remillard (Colorado Springs, Colo.) in 1:00.12 and Megan Kelley (Las Vegas, Nev.) in 1:00.71. Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) was victorious in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.09 seconds, just 21/100ths of a second ahead of Alaska's Felina Rosadiuk.

After the Nanooks won the 200 medley relay to open the meet, Casey Hoffman (Burien, Wash.) finished first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:52.08. Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) led a 1-2-3 Redhawk finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.74, followed by Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) in 1:59.69 and Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.) in 2:00.02. Cobb later won the 500 freestyle in 5:18.74, with Hoffman coming in second with a time of 5:19.87.

The Redhawks closed out the meet with a convincing win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.), Hanohano, and Henan finished almost six seconds ahead of the field with a time of 1:40.40. With the victory, Seattle University swept the season series from the Nanooks, previously winning two dual meets in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Oct. 9-10.

The Seattle University women will head south for a dual meet against Pac-10 school Oregon State Friday, Jan. 22, beginning at 3 p.m. The men will then join the women for the final home meet of the season, as SeattleU faces Simon Fraser Saturday, Jan. 23, starting at 1 p.m. at the Connolly Center Pool.
