Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) was the top swimmer for the SeattleU women, winning two individual events and picking up a third win in the meet-opening 200 medley relay. Boggs won the 50 freestyle in 25.08 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 58.84 seconds. She joined with Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.), Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.), and Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) for the victory in the 200 medley relay in 1:52.13.
Leighter and Morehouse also picked up individual victories, with Leighter winning the 100 backstroke in 1:01.15 and Morehouse continuing her dominance of the 100 breaststroke, setting new team and pool records and qualifying for the U.S. National Championships with a time of 1:04.05. Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) won the 100 freestyle in 58.84 seconds and then led off the 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.), Leighter, and Henan for a winning time of 1:41.05.
For the men, Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) won two individual events, touching the wall first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.56 seconds, a new school and pool record as well as a qualifying time for the U.S. National Championships, and in the 100 butterfly in 51.53 seconds. Murray Longbotham (Mercer Island, Wash.), who finished just 38/100ths of a second behind Anderson in the 100 butterfly, was victorious in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.45.
Bryson Chiu (Carmel, Ind.) picked up the other individual victory for the men, winning the 100 breaststroke in a time of 59.38 seconds. Chiu led off the 200 medley relay, combining with Chris Lynch (Melbourne, Australia), Eric Pedack (Snohomish, Wash.), and Chris Fulton (Snohomish, Wash.) for the victory in that event in 1:37.75. Fulton, Jeff Tibbals (Moscow, Idaho), Longbotham, and Anderson combined to set a new pool record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.69.
The Seattle University men's swim team will compete in the Nike Cup in Long Beach, Calif., next Thursday and Friday, Nov. 19-20. The women will join the men for a dual meet at Simon Fraser next Saturday, Nov. 21, beginning at 6 p.m.
