Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) was part of four winning teams, first leading off the 300 butterfly relay that finished first with a time of 2:39.86. He swam the second leg of the 500 freestyle relay that won with a time of 4:20.40. He then led off the victorious 200 freestyle relay (1:30.14) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:14.50).
Chris Fulton (Snohomish, Wash.) was also part of four victories, joining Anderson in the 500 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay. He also led SeattleU to wins in the 300 breaststroke relay (3:11.44) and as the anchor leg in the 400 medley relay (3:36.59). Another four-time winner was Garrett Nugent (Valencia, Calif.), who joined Anderson in the 300 butterfly relay and Fulton in the 400 medley relay, plus he was part of the 800 freestyle relay victory in 7:21.41 and the 1500 freestyle relay win in 15:12.96.
Newcomer Joe Wertz (Richland, Wash.) also claimed a part of four SeattleU wins, swimming the second leg of the 300 backstroke relay (2:42.07), anchoring the 500 freestyle relay, swimming the middle leg of the 1500 freestyle relay, and anchoring the 400 IM relay (3:47.99). The closest race on the men's side was the 300 butterfly relay, as SeattleU defeated Puget Sound by just over one second.
For the women, senior Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) led the way with four victories, helping her teammates win the 300 backstroke relay (3:04.30), the 800 freestyle relay (8:04.07), the 400 medley relay (4:09.10), and the 400 freestyle relay (3:43.30). Freshman Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.) also was part of four wins, joining Hanohano in the 800 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay as well as assisting the team in winning the 300 breaststroke relay (3:24.63) and the 1500 freestyle relay (16:25.58).
Several other female swimmers for SeattleU were part of three winning relays, including Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.), who got the 300 breaststroke relay to a fast start, followed by wins in the 400 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) anchored the 300 butterfly relay (2:56.86), led off the 500 freestyle relay (4:53.85), and swam second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.55).
Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) was another three-time winner, part of victories in the 800 freestyle relay, the 200 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay. Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.) was part of the winning relays in the 300 backstroke relay, the 400 medley relay, and the 200 freestyle relay, while Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.) helped the Redhawks pick up victories in the 800 freestyle relay, the 200 freestyle relay, and the 400 freestyle relay. Heather Nelson (Bremerton, Wash.) was part of the victorious 300 butterfly relay, 500 freestyle relay, and 400 IM relay squads.
The Seattle University women's swim team will head north next weekend, facing the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, Alaska, on Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10. The men's team is scheduled to compete next at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., on Friday, Oct. 30. The women's team will host Idaho Friday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m., with both squads welcoming Whitworth to the Connolly Center Saturday, Nov. 14, for a 1 p.m. contest.
