The Seattle University men’s swim team won two races and finished second three times to finish the day in third place, while the women’s team placed in the top five several times to finish fourth overall on Friday at the PCSC Relay Meet hosted by Cal Baptist University in Riverside, Calif.

The team of Doug Djang (Seattle, Wash.), Nick Hryciuk (Snohomish, Wash.), and Bryson Chiu (Carmel, Ind.) won the 300 breast relay by just over two seconds, finishing in 3:02.74. Eric Pedack (Snohomish, Wash.) and Chris Fulton (Snohomish, Wash.) joined Djang and Chiu to win the 400 medley in 3:33.43.

Seattle University finished the day with three second place finishes, as Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.), Fulton, Jeff Tibbals (Moscow, Idaho), and James White (El Cajon, Calif.) swam the 500 free relay in 4:18.47, less than two seconds behind Fresno Pacific. Djang, Anderson, Tibbals, and Fulton finished second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:27.79. Also finishing second was the team of Chiu, Djang, Andrew Miron (Billings, Mont.), and Pedack in the 400 IM, in a time of 3:46.05. The men finished the day behind Concordia and Cal Baptist with 169 points.

On the women’s side, Seattle University had their best finish in the 200 free relay, Hanna Basler (El Cajon, Calif.), Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.), Megan Lavin (Kalispell, Mont.), and Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.) finished third in a time of 1:42.63, behind Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount. Also finishing third was the team of Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.), Sarena Hobson (Las Vegas, Nev.), Nguyen, and Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) in the 400 IM relay with a time of 4:18.70.

There were several other teams that finished in the top five, led by a fourth place finish by Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii), Cobb, Henan, and Morehouse in the 400 free relay in 3:47.51. The women’s team earned 109 points in the first day, just behind Cal Baptist, Loyola Marymount, and Pepperdine.

Seattle University will continue competition on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. The team will then come home for a dual with the University of Washington on Thursday Oct. 23 at 12 p.m. in Federal Way, Wash.
