The track and field team concluded the 2008 outdoor season by competing in the Ken Shannon/Ken Foreman Invitational Saturday at the ’s Husky Stadium.

Christopher Fussell () had another solid meet, finishing third in the 200 meter dash, winning his heat with a time of 22.56 seconds, and earning a fifth place finish in the 100 meter dash in 11.20 seconds. He also joined with Jude Anthony Martinez (Hagatna, Guam), Travis Glover (, ), and Daniel Sullivan () to win the 4x100 meter relay in 42.34 seconds.

In the final collegiate meet of his career, Glover finished third in the 400 meter dash, setting a school record with a time of 49.15 seconds. Sullivan also had a productive meet individually, finishing seventh in both the 100 meter dash (11.36 seconds) and 110 meter hurdles (16.13 seconds). Martinez posted the other top ten finish for the Redhawk men, tying for tenth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.51 seconds.

On the women’s side, Rachael Johnson () just missed posting an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 800 meter run, finishing seventh with a time of 2:16.20. Katie Hansen (, ) also posted a seventh place finish in the 1500 meter run in 4:46.02.

Rachel Purcell (, ) finished tenth in the 200 meter dash in 27.26 seconds, as did Rachel Yorkston (), running as an unattached competitor, in the 5000 meter run (19:36.33), Clare Monahan (Centennial, Colo.) in the 100 meter hurdles (21.41 seconds), Kamala Squires (Ventura, Calif.) in the long jump (4.11 meters), and Sara DeMartini (San Francisco, Calif.) in the shot put (9.41 meters). Lindsay Currier () finished 11th in the discus throw with a top effort of 36.68 meters, and Courtney Cabebe (Kihei, Hawaii) cleared a height of 3.25 meters in the pole vault to finish 12th in that event.

Hansen posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 3000 meter run during last week’s GNAC Championships and will find out early this week whether or not she will compete at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Walnut, Calif.
