The Seattle University men’s swim team earned two third-place finishes, while the women’s team posted two top six performances as the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships got underway Wednesday evening at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.
In the men’s 200 medley relay, the team of Bryson Chiu (Carmel, Ind.), Doug Djang (Seattle, Wash.), Chris Coley (Austin, Texas), and Bryant Bevers (Federal Way, Wash.) finished in 1:34.94, behind teams from UC San Diego and Cal Baptist. Jakub Jiracek (Nymburk, Czech Republic), Gordon Smith (Kennewick, Wash.), Nathan Freeman (Phoenix, Ariz.), and Coley teamed up for a third place finish in the 800 freestyle relay in 6:54.43, behind only UC Santa Cruz and UC San Diego.
The women’s 200 medley relay quartet of Francesca Reale (Gig Harbor, Wash.), Carole Triem (Petersburg, Alaska), Alex Weiss (Reno, Nev.), and Megan Lavin (Kalispell, Mont.) finished in sixth place in a time of 1:52.82. In the 800 freestyle relay, Kelsey Henan (Billings, Mont.), Alison Colnon (Seattle, Wash.), Kaci Dudley (Murrieta, Calif.), and Weiss teamed up to finish in fifth place with a time of 7:54.45.
The competition will kick into full gear Thursday, with preliminaries during the day and finals in the evening.
