After scoring all three goals in two victories last week, senior forward Jason Cascio () has been named GNAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, announced Monday morning by the conference office.
Last Monday against Montana State Billings, Cascio took a chest pass from Ian Walsh () and earned his first game-winning goal of the season just over four minutes into the second overtime. The goal helped the men’s soccer team avenge an earlier 1-0 loss to the Yellowjackets in
Friday, Cascio scored two goals as the Redhawks defeated UC San Diego, 2-0. The first goal came in the 32nd minute on a give-and-go between Cascio and Cameron Mertens (). The senior scored again in the 60th minute, receiving a pass from Nick James () and eluding the Triton goalie before putting the ball into the net.
Cascio now leads the team with five goals and ten total points this season. This is the fourth time in his career that Cascio has earned the conference’s weekly honor, tied with ’s Bobby McAlister and James Ward of Seattle Pacific for most in a career. Cascio now has 23 career goals, tied with Danny Ferris for eighth on ’s all-time goals list.
