SEATTLE — Seattle U men's soccer erupted for four second-half goals Saturday night, turning a one-goal halftime deficit into a 4-2 victory over Saint Mary's at Championship Field.

The Redhawks (4-3-3, 1-0-2) fell behind just 3:05 into the match. Seattle U held 55 percent possession in the opening half and generated four shots, but Saint Mary's carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Seattle U came out aggressively after the break, putting sustained pressure on the Gaels. The Redhawks fired 17 shots in the second half and broke through in the 64th minute. Alex Notzka finished a chance assisted by Sahai Williams and Cesar Batres to level the match at 1-1.

Notzka then took over.

The forward struck twice in a span of just over two minutes, scoring in the 78th and 80th minutes to complete a hat trick and put Seattle U ahead 3-1. Takashi Sasaki assisted on both goals, giving him two assists on the night. Notzka's three goals brought his season total to nine and gave him his second hat trick of the season.

Nico Wiskel added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute, scoring his second of the season to push the Redhawks' lead to 4-1. Saint Mary's pulled one back less than five minutes later, but Seattle U held on for the 4-2 victory.

The Redhawks dominated the attacking numbers, finishing with a 21-10 advantage in shots and a 9-3 edge in shots on target. Seattle U also held a 59-41 advantage in possession and earned five corner kicks to Saint Mary's four.

With the win, Seattle U improved to 4-3-3 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play. They will be back in action next Wednesday, Oct. 14 when they face Washington for the Fewing Cup on Montlake.
