PULLMAN, Wash. — The Seattle U women’s swimming team competed against Washington State on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Pullman, highlighted by several strong individual performances and a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Kaitlyn Mero led the Redhawks in the individual medley events, placing third in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:35.28 and fourth in the 100-yard individual medley in 1:00.88. Mero also finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:28.01.

Molly Magnuson delivered a strong showing in the backstroke, placing fourth in the 100-yard event in 59.64 seconds before finishing third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.95. Delaney Johns added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:26.53, and placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.88.

Seattle U also saw contributions across the freestyle events. Mia David placed third in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.84 seconds, while Amanda Miller finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.03 seconds. Adeline Bennett led the Redhawks in the 200-yard freestyle, placing fifth in 2:02.10, followed closely by Giselle Hollis in sixth at 2:02.15.

In the butterfly events, Miller placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in 58.73 seconds, while Lila McGeachy finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:17.94. McGeachy also placed fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:00.76.

The Redhawks closed the meet with a strong relay performance in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Bennett, Miller, Nicole Gertseva and David combined for a time of 1:39.72 to finish second among the competing teams.
