KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Seattle U men’s soccer turned a one-goal halftime lead into a convincing 3-0 victory over Western Michigan on Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.
The Redhawks (3-2-0) broke through late in the opening half when Nico Wiskel scored in the 43rd minute, finishing off an assist from Allen Saye Blegay Jr. The goal gave Seattle U a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Seattle U quickly doubled its lead after the break. Cesar Batres scored just 3:08 into the second half, with Alex Bazia and Saye Blegay Jr. providing the assists. It was the first goal in a Redhawk uniform for Batres, who had two over two seasons at Saint Mary's.

Bazia then added an insurance goal in the 55th minute, scoring his second goal of the season to put the Redhawks ahead 3-0.
The three-goal cushion proved more than enough behind a standout performance from goalkeeper Aleksander Kapciak. Western Michigan generated 15 shots, including 11 on target, but Kapciak turned aside all 11 attempts to earn the shutout and the victory.
The Redhawks also received contributions throughout the lineup, with Bazia recording a goal and an assist, Batres scoring once, and Wiskel adding the opening goal. Saye Blegay Jr. finished with two assists.
Seattle U returns home following the road victory as face Lindenwood on Sunday, Sep. 20, at Championship Field.
