SEATTLE — It’s qualifying time for the Seattle U track and field team.

The Redhawks will compete in two meets this week, as they attempt to secure one final round of PR’s before the NCAA West Regionals, set for May 27-30 in Fayetteville, Ark.

First, Seattle U will start a long weekend with the George Fox University Final Qualifier, held from May 13-14 in Newberg, Ore. The Redhawks will make their first ever appearance in the meet.

Then, Seattle U will be represented in the Stumptown West Coast Twilight, from May 15-16 in Portland, Ore., also making their debut in the event hosted at Lewis & Clark College and Jesuit High School.

The weekend will mark the final regular season competition for the Redhawks, who will look to reach the top-48 individual threshold to qualify for regionals.

Seku Sanders will look to improve on his 1:48.75 PR in the men’s 800m, which set the new all-time school record last month at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Osaze Williams ranks third in the school’s all-time 800m, with a 1:51.60 at last year’s Bryan Clay Invitational

In the women’s 800m, Annabelle Clapp will look to improve on her PR of 2:08.89, set at the OSU High Performance Meet for the third-fastest time in school history. Clapp also holds the fifth-fastest 400m  (57.52), and 10th-fastest 1500m (4:37.13) in Seattle U history. As a team, the Redhawks enter with momentum from the last two weekends of competitions, in which they set 29 total PR’s across four meets.
