SEATTLE — The Seattle U track and field team will make its second of two trips to Corvallis, Ore., this weekend.
The Redhawks will compete in the OSU High Performance Meet hosted by Oregon State University from May 1-2. Earlier in the season, the Redhawks competed in the OSU PNW Invite from Mar. 20-21.
This event is one of the Redhawks’ longest-standing traditions; the team has competed in the event every year since 2013.
Last year, Seattle U recorded 12 new top-10 times in the meet, including Alex Jensen breaking his own men’s 800m record.
This year, Seattle U is coming off an exceptionally strong dual-meet weekend, piling PR’s between the Larry Byerly Invitational and Bryan Clay Invitational from Apr. 16-18.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Seku Sanders ran the men’s 800m in 1:48.75, setting a new school record by more than a second.
The new record book entries didn’t stop there. Annabelle Clapp ran a 2:11.52 in the women’s 800m for the third-fastest time in school history.
In the men’s steeplechase, Porter Buck ran a 9:49.52 for the 10th-best time in school history. On the women’s side, Lydia Dale ran a 11:28.37, improving her seventh-best time in Seattle U history.
In total, the Redhawks set 17 PR’s across the two meets over the weekend.
The High Performance Meet will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 1, with events live through 5:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
