SACRAMENTO — The Seattle University cross country season ended the way it began, with Azalea Groleau and Roman Radecki leading the way.
In the women’s 6k, Groleau was once again the first Redhawk women’s finisher, recording a time of 21:12 in her collegiate cross country swan song. Groleau finished six seconds ahead of her time at the WCC Championship on Nov. 1. It marked the end of a decorated Seattle U cross country career for Groleau, who holds the best 6k time in school history.
Diana Camargo-Solis (22:29) was next to finish, improving upon her WCC Championship time by 21 seconds. Annabelle Clapp (23:26) was next to follow. Freshman Mira Danish was the fourth Redhawk to finish in her NCAA Regional debut, posting a time of 24:12.
In the men’s 10k, it was more of the same for Roman Radecki, who put the finishing touches on a remarkable freshman season. Radecki crossed the line first for the Redhawks with a time of 32:36, concluding a season that included the 12th best 8k race in school history at the Charles Bowles Invitational on Oct. 4.
Seku Sanders (34:05) followed Radecki, while Casey Miller (34:55) polished off a promising freshman season of his own. Dan Barreto completed his season with a time of 35:37.
Four of the five Redhawks’ competitors – Radecki, Sanders, Miller, and Alexander Osoro – will retain multiple years of eligibility entering next season, giving the program significant momentum moving forward.
