EDMONDS, WA - Seattle U baseball dropped their series finale withUtah Valley, 9-10, Sunday afternoon at Triton Park in Edmonds. The Redhawks held a 4-run lead heading into the 8th inning, but the Wolverines scored six over the final two frames to snag the series from under their feet.
All eight of the runs for the Redhawks came from home runs in the 1st and 3rd innings. Sam Kane hit his seventh, a 3-run blast, to get the runs flowing before Reese Harmon followed him with a solo shot. A pair of 2-run home runs came off the bats of Tyler Peterson and Hunter Komine in the 3rd.
Kane's home run kept his ascent to the top of the program's career tally moving, tying Justin Mazzone (2018-21) for 5th with 16. Peterson's was his first DI home run, while Komine recorded his first collegiate long ball.
Kenny Ishikawa was the starter on the mound, going five innings while giving up four earned and striking out five. Isaac Halla was the first out of the pen, allowing four over 2.2 IP. Reid Madariaga (1-1) was the arm of record as he surrendered two runs, just one earned, to pick up his first loss of the season.
