SEATTLE - The postseason begins this week as the Redhawks head to NCAA West Regionals in Colfax, Washington. The women's 6k will kick things off, beginning at 11:00 AM, with the men's 10k set for roughly 12:00 pm.
14 Redhawks will take part in Regionals, seven from the men's side and seven from the women's. For the men, Aidan Loeffelman, Jeremy Posdon, Porter Buck, Dylan Irey, Seku Sanders, Lance Mason, and Alex Jensen will all compete. On the women's side, it will be Jordan White, Diana Camargo Solis, Azalea Groleau, Lilianne Hargreaves, Alisha Saucedo, McKenna White, and Lydia Dale.
This will be the second time this year that the Redhawks have raced at the Colfax Golf Course. The Cougar Classic also took place there earlier this year, where the Redhawks saw Hargreaves run the fourth-best time in Seattle University history with a 21:09.8. Posdon ran a 25:20.5 for the men at that race, narrowly missing out on the all-time top-20 list for the 8k.
It's been an historic stretch the last few weeks for the Redhawks, who have seen three new times in the all-time top 20 over the last two races. Groleau has set new program-record times in the 6k in back-to-back weeks, doing so first at the Bronco Invitational before earning First Team All-WAC at the WAC Championships with a Redhawk-record 20:28.48. Camargo Solis and McKenna White each put new personal-best times in the top 20 at the WAC Championships as well, with Camargo Solis running the sixth-best time in program history (21:18.91) and White the 17th-best (21:50.20).
Last season's NCAA West Regionals saw Groleau break the program record in the 6k, a record she has since bested multiple times. Hargreaves ran the fifth-fastest time in program history at last year's Regionals as well, only to best that this year at the Cougar Classic. The men's side saw Yonas Sauers run the third-fastest time in program history in the 10k last season with a 31:08.4.
The top two teams from each Regionals site will qualify for the NCAA Championship, set for November 23 in Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to those top two teams from each region, 13 additional teams will be selected at large, as well as 38 individuals. Those individuals will be the first four finishers at each Regionals site that are not from a qualified team.
