OREM, Utah - Seattle University volleyball mounted a late surge while accruing blocks left and right against Utah Valley, but the effort fell short as the Wolverines claimed the rematch 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-23) at Lockhart Arena on Monday night.

Senior Katlyn Sipes extended her double digit dig streak to nine after picking up a team leading 12 on the night. She now has 246 digs on the year.

The Redhawks tallied eight blocks to UVU's five, making it two matches in a row where the Redhawks out-blocked their opponent. Junior Marley Hardgrave led the way with five block assists, her highest total through the first two weeks of October. Sophomore Tatum Chase added four blocks to the effort. Chase also contributed five kills, hitting .333 on 12 attacks and one error.

Despite a sluggish start, Seattle U struck first in all three sets before the Wolverines put them away. The pendulum swung in favor of the Redhawks in the second, despite Utah Valley grabbing the 25-23 set victory. In a contested back and forth final set, the Redhawks stood up 23-21 before a 4-0 swing wrapped the match in UVU's favor.

The Wolverines were an oiled machine offensively throughout the night, despite the rallying defensive effort from the Redhawks to shut them down. They tallied 52 kills to Seattle U's 32, leading the Redhawks in aces, assists and digs. Despite a multitude of Wolverine errors, 22 to Seattle U's 11, the Wolverines got the best of the Redhawks late in the final two sets.

Seattle U returns home for its next three matches, starting with a Thursday evening bout against Southern Utah at 6 p.m. at the Redhawk Center.
