LATE PUSH
Seattle U has played some of its best basketball over the last three contests, winning matchups against Tarleton, 61-57, and Southern Utah, 75-71. The Redhawks capped off a fourth quarter comeback victory over the Texans on Feb. 10, outscoring Tarleton, 21-10, in the final period. SU opened the fourth quarter on a 7-2 run, concluding with Julianna Walker's season-high sixth made three pointer. After the Texans built a seven point lead, Peyton Howard scored nine straight points to put the Redhawks in the lead for good.

The Redhawks continued that momentum last Thursday night against the Thunderbirds, grabbing the lead early on into the contest and never relinquishing it. Seattle U used a 12-2 run midway through the second quarter to build a strong lead, thanks to a combined 13 points from Howard and Walker. SU had an answer for a late push by the Thunderbirds, with Makayla Moore and Walker knocking down some crucial free throws late in the final period.

Over the two game span, Peyton Howard, Makayla Moore, Mya Moore and Julianna Walker have been crucial to the victories. Walker led the way with an average of 19.5 points per game (PPG), pouring in nine made three pointers. Howard and Mya Moore played two overall strong games, with the former recording 14 PPG to go along with 4.5 rebounds per game (RPG) , while the latter chipped in 13.5 PPG and eight RPG. Makayla Moore was vital in the win over Southern Utah, tying for the game-high in scoring with 19 points to go along with two steals.

NEW LOOK ON THE BENCH
The 2023-24 Redhawks will feature a complete new look behind the bench, lead by the sixth women's basketball coach in program history, Skyler Young. Young's first staff at the helm of the Redhawks features Michael BrooksRachel SwartzGeAnna Luaulu-Summers and Makala Roper.

Brooks previously coached in collegiate athletics at Bradley University, serving as head coach from 2012-16 with one season as an assistant coach (2011-12), while Swartz returned to the Pacific Northwest after spending last season at Saint Mary's and Luaulu-Summers makes the move to Seattle from University of Oregon where she served as the Ducks' director of creativity and student athlete support. Coach Young retains one familiar face in Roper as she will mark her fourth season as a member of Seattle U.

SCOUTING STEPHEN F. AUSTIN/UTRGV
The Ladyjacks rebounded last week in their sole contest after losing the previous two, defeating Abilene Christian, 89-83, in Abilene, Texas. SFA features two scorers in double figures in Kurstyn Harden (15.9 PPG) and Kyla Deck (12.4), while Destini Lombard (9.7) falls just short of that club.

Leonard Bishop became the 10th Head Coach in Ladyjacks Basketball history prior to this season. The Redhawks trail the all-time series against Stephen F. Austin, 0-3, after dropping the contest between the two, 66-82, earlier in the year in Seattle.

The Vaquerous enter this week having lost three of their last four, falling to both Abilene Christian and UT Arlington on the road last week. UTRGV is led by Iyana Dorsey (12.8 PPG) and Kade Hackerott (11.6).

Lane Lord marks his sixth season behind the bench for the Vaqueros. The Redhawks trail the all-time series against UTRGV, 9-13, falling earlier this season, 77-84, at home.
