LAS CRUSES, N. Mex. - Seattle U women's tennis continued their weekend of WAC play in Las Cruses, New Mexico with a dual match against New Mexico State. The RedHawks put up a good fight, but unfortunately would be defeated in a score of 5-2.
The Aggies got off to a hot start in doubles. Shuanghui Huang and Jade Quintana faced off against Dora Kurdi and Valeriia Ivanovskaia, but would drop the match 6-1. Mireia Fehr and Lola Tavcar teamed up to play against Bella Nguyen and Miranda Bishard, but fell to the Aggie duo 2-6.
Elena Kraleva and Liliya Dimova wrapped up doubles play with a competitive match against Anna Pinaieva and Lisa Zhu, but fell just short, losing the match 4-6. The Aggies secured the doubles point.
In singles, Lola Tavcar battled against Valeriia Ivanovskaia but dropped the match in identical sets of 3-6. Jade Quintana fought hard against Bella Nguyen but also dropped her match in identical sets of 4-6.
Elena Kraleva and Anna Pinaieva had a competitive match, but it was Pinaieva who would come up with the win, with Kraleva dropping the match 4-6, 5-7.
Marija Elenova and Mireia Fehr both picked up wins on the day for the Redhawks. Elenova had a heated battle against Natsuki Nishimura, and Elenova would come out on top with Nishumura retiring the match.
Mireia Fehr had two very competitive sets against Miranda Bishard. Fehr would come out victorious, taking both sets in scores of 7(3)-6 and 7-5.
Liliya Dimova would wrap up the dual match with a hard fought effort against Lisa Zhu. Although Dimova took Zhu to three sets, she would drop the match 6-2, 1-6, 2-6.
The Redhawks next matches will be on March 26 as they will take on Utah Tech in St. George, Utah.
