Bilby, Smajlovic Record Double-Doubles Versus Texans

SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U volleyball (6-16, 1-10 WAC) began its final stretch of home matches in the month of October on Thursday evening, falling in five set heartbreaker to Tarleton. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest took place at the Redhawk Center on the campus of Seattle U in Seattle.

SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle U volleyball (6-16, 1-10 WAC) began its final stretch of home matches in the month of October on Thursday evening, falling in a five set heartbreaker to Tarleton. The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest took place at the Redhawk Center on the campus of Seattle U in Seattle.

Set 1: 25-23
Set 2: 25-20
Set 3: 7-25
Set 4: 20-25
Set 5: 7-15

MATCH NOTES 
After falling behind 17-13 in the first set, Seattle U won eight of the next nine points to put them in front. With the score tied at 23 all, kills from Arianna Bilby and Merima Smajlovic sealed the first set win. 

The Redhawks went back and forth with the Texans in set two, pulling out in front after the score was 14 all. Seattle U claimed six of seven points to take a 20-15 lead and never trailed from this point. 

Both Arianna Bilby and Merima Smajlovic recorded double-doubles on the evening, with the former recording 18 kills and 13 digs, while the latter logged a career-high 20 kills and 10 digs. Bilby also finished with three total blocks, while Smajlovic finished with two service aces and one total block. 

Naima Foster finished just one kill shy of double figures, while Hardgrave and Chase tied for the team lead with four total blocks. 

Elif Teksoy marked a new career-high with 47 assists to go along with four total blocks, three digs and one kill. 

Katlyn Sipes tied Bilby for the team lead in digs with 13, while Erin Goya (11) was the fourth Redhawk with double-digit digs.

The Redhawks will be back in action on Saturday, celebrating Turkish Day against Abilene Christian at 2 p.m. in the Redhawk Center.
