Seattle U Drops Road Matchup with LMU

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Seattle U men's soccer (4-2-1) dropped a tough battle with Loyola Marymount, 2-3, Thursday night in California. After leading 2-1 at the halftime break, the Redhawks conceded two goals to the Lions in the second to drop the match.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Seattle U men's soccer (4-2-1) dropped a tough battle with Loyola Marymount, 2-3, Thursday night in California. After leading 2-1 at the halftime break, the Redhawks conceded two goals to the Lions in the second to drop the match. 

The Redhawk goals came within three minutes of each other and included the same combination. Kotaro Hirokawa took a free kick in the 35th that found the head of Jaden Manetta for the first of the night. In the 38th Hirokawa took s corner from left of goal that once again found Manetta for a header. They were the first colligate goals for Manetta and the first assists for Hirokawa in a Redhawk uniform. 

Cautions were the name of the game in the second half, as a total of 13 yellow cards were shown. At one point the Redhawks were up a man before receiving a red card of their own in the 83rd made it 10-on-10. Seattle U would give up goals in the 79th and 83rd to drop their road contest. 

Match Timeline: 
The Redhawks will have a quick turnaround as they return to Championship Field on Monday, Sep. 18, to host Denver. Kickoff between the Redhawks and Pioneers is scheduled for 7pm PT and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
